Happy Father's Day to Dads worldwide. As with Mother's Day, this is a celebration of life. Without Dad, where would we be? Dad, the protector and, at one time, the sole provider of the family now has taken his rightful place in our society's honoring of his essence. So, as June 21st approaches, remember that Father's Day is a time of celebrating the man you call 'Father' Again, Happy Father's Day! Now I wish to switch gears briefly. I am reminded through one of our stories this month (The Dolphin: Story of a Dreamer) how important it is to follow one's dream and not get caught up in what society as a whole thinks. To be a dreamer opens up the possibility of unlimited potential because it's a desire of the heart and therefore attainable. Let me ask, are you living your dreams, living from your heart, or are you so enmeshed within the emotions and ideas of other's that you have forgotten your own dream reality? When was the last time that you truly envisioned yourself experiencing a wondrous fantasy? (Fantasies are real you know!) For me, I realize it has been some time since I have sat with myself to re-evaluate what it is that I truly desire. I also have been faced with many opportunities to look at how I view the world and my very existence. Do I visualize my life? Yes, but not as I once did through the innocence of childhood. Perhaps that is the clue to fulfilling one's aspirations to become childlike and know that everything is possible. Yes, as a little girl, there wasn't any adventure I could not participate in, and the stage was exactly as I designed it. What fun there was when creating something new and exciting. Of course, as an adult in 1998, I must always remember that somewhere within me is that little Michelene who was so good at creating an environment of fun and laughter. A place where life was not so serious, only simple. Maybe, just maybe, it is time to consult with this little girl and inquire as to her dreams, her adventures and then, we can do them together, hand-in-hand. I guess what I am attempting to convey is that life is to be lived and savored. Follow your passion and the desire to become the out-picturing of those visions. The stage has been set, the players are all in their costumes, and you are the ones to make it happen. |
