As I look out my window this morning the sun is shining and a few clouds float aimlessly upon the clear blue sky. The weather is chilly and winter is fast approaching; even in Las Vegas. Already Christmas music can be heard playing softly in the background throughout the malls, and merchants hope to entice customers with their colorful displays. Decorations abound, signaling the beginning of a magical time. Memories of waking up to the wondrous smells of cookies baking, pies cooling on the kitchen counter and the laughter associated with this season of giving are brought to the forefront of my mind. Yet, I am also reminded that the holidays are more than just a gathering of loved ones or the exchanging of gifts. It is the beginning of a new season of giving the time when we are prompted, more than ever, to open our hearts to the expressions of love, joy and goodness. Christmas is a continuance of hope in this world. The symbols of peace and good will overflow, and the merriment of laughter fills the air. The opportunity to discover humanitys true heart is never more apparent than during this Christmas season. How do you view the hustle and bustle of the season? Do you get caught up in the commercialism or the celebration? Do you go placidly amid the noise and the haste or do you find yourself resisting and dreading the time? My suggestion; if you find yourself harried and overwhelmed, listen for the laughter of that childlike spirit and recall what joy there is in giving from the heart. Regardless of ones beliefs about the holidays, it truly is a time of envisioning love, hope and joy. May all our hearts expand with the giving and receiving of love. Seasons Greetings. |
