by Diana D. Woloson

I'm on the verge of greatness! I just can't take it to the bank" declared a friend a few days ago. I loved the line "on the verge of greatness." What a positive expression! How many of us have felt this way and, like him, couldn't take it to the bank? We need to change this. First by stating…"and I'm taking it to the bank" …or something to that affect. Secondly, we need to take a closer look. We need to see it, taste it, feel it, believe it, be it (our greatness) and know it is in the bank.

Why do we feel like we're right there, yet can't seem to go beyond that edge and arrive at greatness? What is blocking or stopping us? Especially those times when we feel we've done everything "right," and by the book.

It's time to stop and look at what's on the inside. Is it stopping us from that greatness we feel is within our reach? I worked with the guy I quoted over 20 years ago. Our paths just recently crossed again. Still not knowing where he is on his path, I do know that he's following in his father's career. His father was of large stature, where this man is smaller. Assuming his dad's business was very successful, is there a possibility that he subconsciously thinks he's not "big" enough to be the success his father was? The friend is even using the same business name with a "2" behind it - perhaps reinforcing a subconscious thought of" second best." These are just some quick observations since hearing him use that phrase. I do know he isn't following his "bliss" as he told me this. Will he ever "arrive" at his greatness? It is possible; however, he needs to do some inner work and let go of the "little things" (no pun intended) that may be keeping him from going beyond his current level of success. Does he feel deserving or "good enough?" Does he really want more, or is he striving for more because he thinks he should make more money to have more things in order to meet society's expectations of a success? It's important that we ask ourselves these same questions.

What many of us are up against isn't really about money in and of itself. It's about whether we truly feel deserving of wealth and it usually involves other issues as well. Can we really see ourselves with those big bucks we're trying to manifest? Perhaps we have we picked such a large number that it doesn't feel real or possible - it's only a dream and there's a part of us that doesn't believe it will ever come to us. Maybe we need to start with an amount that feels more "realistic" and create that to build our confidence in manifestation and then work up to the dream figure.

Do you really believe in your greatness - or do you just think you do? Is this belief coming from the heart as well as the mind?

Let's take a few minutes and get quiet and comfortable (uncross legs, arms or anything else!). Take a couple of deep breaths to center, tune into your heart and clear away any thoughts.

Now ask yourself the following question without judgement or mental work. Take the very first answer that drifts or pops into your mind. Don't think; just let it come to you. "Do I deserve that million dollars (or the car or house of your dreams or whatever you're wanting)?"

If you get a "no" ask yourself, "Why not?" Then take that answer to form your next question. For example, if you received the answer "because I'm not good enough" ask why you're not good enough. Ask what will make you good enough. Then keep digging deeper. If you received a "yes" ask "then why don't I have what I want?" "Do I love myself?" If you receive "no" ask why not? Should you get "I'm afraid" then ask "what am I afraid of?" Just keep probing yourself for answers until you can't go any further.

Your answers may not be logical and that is OK! Logic doesn't necessarily come into the picture when we are dealing with the heart and emotions. These are what we need to reach within ourselves in order to release, let go, surrender so we can accept the present and move forward into the future.

If you're having trouble with this or feel you need more help, check into hypnotherapy, massage therapy. Use the Bach Flower Remedies or top quality organic, therapeutic grade essential oils (beyond aromatherapy) to help clear the emotional blocks. These are some of the tools available to help us get more in touch with ourselves.

Will you continue to live on the "verge of greatness''…or, will you believe in yourself enough to step beyond the excuses, the self-sabotage, the blocks and the fears - to leap into the unknown and be your greatness?
