It seems like only yesterday that we were celebrating the New Year and already we are rapidly closing in on the end of 2001.
It's hard for me to believe that I am actually glad to see the speed at which we are traveling. For me, at this moment, it means that we are quickly moving forward with our growth and not staying stuck in past routines. We are being urged to move rather than remain standing in the same place.
And too, another side of me longs for those days where life was simple, less harried and spent in joy, fun and laughter. It was a time when we swung on a homemade swing, went barefoot on the silken sand - our feet burning from the sun beating down upon the road. We played baseball on a lawn mowed into the shape of a baseball diamond, we ate watermelon, homemade ice cream (made in a hand-cranked bucket) and fresh corn on the cob. Ahhh, the "good ole' day," what a journey. We didn't think about time in those days as we do today - it was different somehow.
Journeys back through time can be a fun thing to do and it is also a reminder of what we have gone through to bring us to this space and time.
Our beginnings take many different paths, each one of them being perfect in the moment. Some are rough and rocky, steep and twisty - and then there are those roads which are smooth and easy going. We need all the terrains to help us move forward in life. We need the respite when we've trudged so long uphill or over obstacles. Then, when we get complacent, we need the challenges upon the roads that will encourage our spirit once more into action.
Life is indeed like a roller coaster, up and down, fast and slow, curvy and straight and yet, through it all, life is a thrill. All you have to do is wait and around the next bend in the road you will have a new adventure to partake of.
Enjoy the rest of the summer and just imagine - what do you have waiting around your bend? Take care.
