Natural Quickies
By Eugenia Jarrett
“Quick lifts” and “creative cures” are everywhere…some work some don’t. I
continuously experiment, sometimes to a fault. Even though I took these findings for granted and usually just used them for my family and myself, I have found tremendous results. I am happy to say that researching and sharing this information has proven to become more a vital and satisfying part of my life. So following are just a few of the tips, tricks and miscellaneous info bits I have learned and used. I hope they will be of benefit to you as well.
Been down with an ailment or flu? Get back on your feet quickly by drinking 1-2 large glasses of fresh carrot juice daily for a minimum of one week. It gives your body energy and also assists in the cleansing of the impurities lodged in your system.
Aid your digestion - Artichoke leaf extract is making news around the nation as an aid to digestion and possibly lowering cholesterol. The tests are still out, but so far the results are very positive.
Quick Calcium fix! Sardines (7) have about 350 mg. of calcium. They are an excellent, quick source of easy to assimilate calcium. If you get the kind in Olive Oil, there is the added benefit of nourishing your skin and hair.
Eyes bothering you? Scientists have found patients eating high doses of fruits and green vegetables often have had less mascular eye degeneration when they are older than those patients not eating fruits and vegetables.
Wrinkle eraser? Gently run an ice cube all over the wrinkle area for instant firming and tightening.
Can’t Sleep? This one works great! Blend a tsp. of honey (organic), 1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar (unfiltered) in a cup of warm water and drink about 30 min. before bedtime. The original recipe called for a full cup of warm vinegar. That didn’t work for me, or my nose.
Sinus Congestion? Pour boiling water into a bowl or pot. Add 6 drops of Camphor or Eucalyptus oil. Cover your head with a towel and inhale deeply until the steam
dissipates.
Sweet Tooth? Use Stevia instead of sugar – it is natural and tastes great!
Sore gums or tooth? Use a cotton swab and rub oil of myrrh or oil of clove on gums. Another tip that works well is to gargle with 1 tsp. Myrrh and boric acid mixed in 2 cups of water, boil for 30 min. Rinse with the warm mixture.
Claustrophobic? This was interesting - even though I am not claustrophobic, I have known people that this has helped. Carry green apple fragrance and sniff it as needed. They even use the fragrance in their homes.
Bruise? Apply a cold vinegar compress to a bruise to reduce pain as well as discoloration.
Trouble concentrating? Improve concentration by placing 3 drops of essential oil of rosemary on a tissue. Place it over nose and breathe in deeply.
Trouble sleeping? Need a natural sedative? Place 15 drops of Valerian tincture under the tongue 15-30 minutes before bedtime. Follow with a cup of strong chamomile tea. You can even put a few drops of valerian on a tissue and keep it by your pillow.
Sore throat or cough? Mix 1 tsp. honey (organic) with 2 tsp. lemon juice (real lemons) and add a dash of cayenne pepper. Drink it four times a day.
Puffy eyes when you get up? Put 2 slices of cucumber in the freezer before you shower. Later place slices on your eyelids and rest about 10 minutes.
Like beans? They don’t like you? Soak the beans overnight in water with 2 tbsp. of vinegar.
Bug bite? Break open an aloe leaf and rub it on the bite, or have pure aloe on hand.
Got an ouchie cut? Cleanse cut with 5 drops of tea tree oil mixed with 2 tbsp. water. Clean cut with a soaked cotton ball.
Bee Sting? Hold ice on the bee sting for the first 15 minutes. Then apply a baking soda paste.
Age Spots? Make them less noticeable with this quick-acting remedy. Rub the juice of crushed fresh cranberries over the spots and let dry over night. Wash off in the morning. Continue and watch them lighten daily.
Fruit of the month - Lycium Fruit: An amazingly great tasting Asian Fruit. It has the reputation of being known as a blood enriching tonic fruit, and it is believed that it’s consummation will lead to a long and vigorous life. My studies have shown it apparently helps in cleansing and strengthening the immune system, liver and kidneys. There are also several reports stating that many patients lose significant weight when eating the fruit on a daily basis.
As with any remedies please consult your health practitioner.
