As we begin the second half of 2002 and nearing the 4th of July holiday, there are once again rumblings of a possible terrorist attack. The media continues its’ coverage and paints the scenario in less than a favorable light. When does the threat of terrorism cease? It doesn’t…whether from a foreign nation or our own there will always be those individuals and groups that believe their cause is just. My question is, when do we move on? People around the world have had to deal with the ramifications and the emotional upheavals of September 11th — from their countries being attacked, to nations having to form alliances. I realize that we all deal with events in our lives according to our make-up…how we were raised as well as our mass consciousness. I continually hear about how this or that person is trying to cope and how they may even see the "Twin Towers" situation happening all around. For instance someone saw a commercial with two drinks and straws sticking out and a dragonfly buzzing around and they equated it to the September event. Now by no means am I saying they are wrong — to me it simply says that they were very traumatized. And this I do believe that we must not continue living our lives by always looking over our shoulders. Remember, those things we fear the most we attract to ourselves. If we are forever looking back we cannot be in the moment. If we are continually looking to the future and the "what ifs" then we will not see the present and all the wonders held within the scope of being in the now. When we allow others to feed our fears we give away our powers and transform our lives into non-living entities. Because of "what may happen" we may become frozen from living our lives in joy and freedom. You might say we become slaves to our own fears. What is it that we want for our lives? Peace, harmony, joy, health, more love and laughter? Absolutely. For me it means not looking over my shoulder, not second guessing what might be if such and such took place. There are many things we are unable to control in this world we call home; however, the things I can take charge of are my thoughts, my actions and the way I decide to live my life. It is a grand time to be alive and with all our hope and dreams, all our life’s struggles and challenges it is still a world of wonderment and I am glad to be a "Child of the Universe."
