  Has Your Ship Come In?

By Sarah Schweitzer

Every human being has a dream, a wish, a fantasy that they “wish” would come true. For some that “dream” becomes a reality and for others it remains just a dream. I am no exception to the world of “dreaming” and “wishing” for the things I perceived were out of my reach. For years I, like many other people, awaited the unfolding of circumstances in my life that would announce that “my ship had finally arrived.” Has your “ship of dreams” arrived at your doorstop? Mine never did. Yet, when I looked around at other peoples’ lives who were successful, I noticed their “ships had arrived.” So I asked myself, “What circumstances need to be present in my life to turn my dreams into reality?”

In waiting for my ship to arrive, I researched this question and found that there were no magic circumstances that appear. Having your wishes and dreams come true is totally dependent upon the energy, motivation, and determination you put into making your desires in life a reality! What an eye-opener that was! All this time I conditioned myself to believe it would happen outside myself — and I waited. What bothered me the most was a conversation I had with a very dear friend who was in the final stages of her life. She told me she had waited all her life for her ship to come in and it never did. She felt as if she had wasted her life waiting. Now, in the final days, she had regret that she did not live her life differently. Listening to her words, I looked around in my life for people who I knew were waiting for their dreams to manifest. As I questioned them about those dreams, they all responded that they were waiting for “their ships to come in” but were doing nothing to help the situation become a reality. I wondered, in my minds eye, if on their death bed if they would have the same regret of “waiting” as my friend recently experienced. It was at that point I discovered that I too was waiting for my ship of dreams to manifest. I also was a product of my societal conditioning. I, like everyone around me, had been imprinted to look outside myself for the “fixes and miracles” to happen. For all these years I thought I was different from the rest, only to realize I was in the same box as everyone else. That’s when I decided to take the hopes, dreams, and wishes in my life and make them a reality.

One of my dreams was to be a columnist for metaphysical and self growth publications. You are now reading my manifested dream. This published article is my debut as a columnist and proof positive that dreams can become reality. Did my ship come in? No. No one knocked on my door or rang me up and said “Sarah would you write an article for this column?” I met my ship half way as it hovered in the harbor of my life. I reached out for it and claimed it as mine. You too can reach out and take responsibility for making your dreams come true just like I did. Do not wait for someone to do it for you. That someone will just not appear.

Making your dreams become your reality takes a leap of faith—faith in self. This step of faith looks inward at the values you hold dear and the emotional passion you hold for your dream. If your dream holds internal joy, your entire body will resonate as your dream becomes a reality in your life. Mentally, you will feel pleased with yourself for having accomplished a major landmark in your life. But what is happening on an energetic level? Internally, your body resonates with your dream and activates dormant passage ways of creativity. When activated, the body, mind, spirit connection is made and inner joy moves through the connection — cutting a path of creative awareness. This allows for that feel good feeling you experience when your dream becomes reality. Once the path is cut, creative juices begin to flow and if left unhindered, an inner expansiveness is felt. We express this as feeling like we can do anything in our lives. This is called empowerment.

Each time we allow our inner joy to move through the creative passage ways of our internal self, we activate the memory of empowerment. When the memory of empowerment is fully activated we then experience our lives in the energy of success. We walk our soul path, are in the right place at the right time, we are connected to the whole of life. When connected to the Oneness of life, additional hopes, dreams and wishes are easily converted to reality. This is empowered living. This is living your life to the fullest. This is self-empowerment.
