One of the deepest emotional bonds we hold with loved ones is felt deeply and keenly on the moment of their transition. To allow a loved one to follow their spiritual path at that particular moment is one of the cherished obligation we can afford them. It is with dignity and respect we whisper low "It’s okay darling, I know you must go now." Despite true love and devotion, the assured heartache that follows, leaves us with one of the biggest tests of our lives — letting go.

As human beings we are daily embracing a spiritual experience. Albeit through knowledge and empowerment, we expect the stages of grief to be one of the most painful passages in our lives before searching for the reasons of departure. But, what of the spiritual journey of our loved ones? What do we know of their transition? Who will be there to greet them on their arrival?

Among us, there are those who have been blessed with the gift of soul knowledge. Ordinary people, all over the globe, who after many years of spiritual education and understanding of the ways of the Spirit, know and share these gifts with the searcher. Often we search for "signs" of our deceased loved ones, praying that all is well. Reaching out to find a message, or indication of their presence around us in an effort to satisfy ourselves that they are somehow watching over us.

How many times do we feel something or someone brush passed us, yet no one is there; a "smell" or familiar perfume that they wore while with us? Or dreamt of them looking healthy, talking, laughing and holding hands once again. How, in all that’s holy can these wondrous things happen? Why are they happening? Can we begin to believe that our family of angels are reaching out from behind the veil?

May we for a moment think that they could communicate by dropping something as simple as a feather in our way? Could it be, in fact, their way of attempting dialog with us or could we hope that it is? After all, it’s only our imaginations at work again, or is it?

Those are just some of the signs of the loved ones who have passed. It is an indication that they have only given up their physical body in what we call "death." On the other hand their signs are validations that they are well and alive and being of service to those they love.
