Happy Mother’s Day! What a wonderful time to honor our mothers…the female influence in our lives. It is she who deserves our highest praise for without her we would not be. When was the last time you looked deeply into the eyes of the one who gave you life? What did you see? Were her eyes bright and happy, filled with wisdom and all the attributes mothers are famous for? Could you sense her gentle ways and loving sacrifices? Or were her eyes tired due to her long days and sometimes longer-nights? It seems so true that a "mother’s work is never done." Some might say, "I have no mother…she is gone" or, "I never knew my mother." Yet, how can that be true? While in the womb you and she bonded on a level so deep and so sacred that even the most challenging of life’s lessons could not sever your soul’s connection. We don’t always acknowledge our bonds with our mothers and sometimes we even take them for granted. Mothers have many roles in our lives. They are there to befriend us, to show us our strengths and weaknesses, to challenge us to be honorable, to provide a structure which builds character. She is there to hug us when we are hurt and afraid or just to say, "it’s okay, I love you." Mothers are precious and they impart to us their insights into life. No, this is not a perfect world and we may not wish to remember our lives as we grew up. However, we did grow up and we are contributing to society all due to the fact that our Mother had the courage to give us birth. Mother’s Day is a time of remembrance. It is a time to embrace our heritage of she who gave so much of herself. Honoring our Mother is simple — be her representative, an example of her love, her wisdom and her strength. If you have no one you can call "Mother" then perhaps you can find the time to reconnect with that soul experience you had when you took your first breath. The physical journey began when you were born; however, your existence was birthed within the womb of the Divine Feminine called "Mother." Happy Mother’s Day.
