Music of the Heart
By Jackie Woods
Have you ever had an
experience that makes your Heart sing? Of course, that doesn’t mean you
instantaneously burst into song, but you felt the presence of your spirit as a
living entity inside you. Just remembering how full you felt of all that is
positive which made you hunger for more.
The unfortunate thing is that
the songs of the spirit get drowned out by the business of our lives. The music
is always present for the Heart to hear. It just isn’t always heard. Oftentimes
the routine of life produces a dull roar that gets intensified as tension
builds. And, if we repeatedly forget to change our inner station from outer
demands to sounds of the Heart, we begin to associate the sounds generated from
the outside as the only channel available.
Probably an equally consuming
distraction from hearing your Heart sing comes from the chatter that goes on in
your own mind. Mind chatter has its own frequency. It is different than the
sounds produced from the tension that comes from trying to keep up with outside
demands. However, it does not come close to the perfect vibration of spirit as
it sings to your Heart.
Why do you suppose the musical classics have
survived for hundreds of years? They came from the inspiration of the composer’s
spirit. What got written down was the composer’s Heart interpretation of the
sounds that came to him from the higher vibrations of the universe.
Your
daily composition may not be a musical classic, but instead a loving word or a
job well done. You have seven energy centers through which your Heart can
resonate. Each of these centers vibrates at the same frequency in everyone. This
means that even though your Heart’s music may not make it on the list of famous
musical scores, it can reach out to all who will listen. So in essence your
songs will be heard and replayed by many.
Since each center resonates
with a different musical key, you have the opportunity to express your Heart’s
song in many different ways. For instance, Mozart wrote his Requiem Mass in the
key of C minor. The key of C resonates with the physical energy center. The
Requiem was played at his funeral, i.e. the death of the physical. Listening to
music in the key of C major can help you hear the rhythm and tenor of your
physical body. And, by letting your own body’s song be heard, you can increase
your energy level. Your next energy center up from the physical center vibrates
in harmony with the key of D. They continue to climb the entire seven step
musical scale until you reach the crown of your head.
As you can see,
musical composition expressed from your Heart each day may focus on different
keys, depending on which part of you is called upon to take the lead. In other
words, your spirit has no musical limitations. Limitations only come from
failing to do internal listening and external expression.
Listening to
the sounds of your external world can keep you from letting your Heart sing. To
keep that from happening, you need to see the outside activities and people as
the paper on which you write your daily musical scores.
